General rules and list of documents required for personally submitting an application to foreign police (cudzinecká polícia).
Submitting an application for a residence permit renewal via business (limited liability company) for citizens of non-EU countries.
1) Applicant’s form
Žiadosť o obnovenie prechodného pobytu – application for residence permit renewal.

The form must be completed in Slovak language.
2) Proof of accommodation in Slovakia
Čestné vyhlásenie vlastníka nehnuteľnosti – declaration from the property owner.

The document must be completed in Slovak or Czech and certified by a Slovak or Czech notary, or personally signed at the foreign police department when submitting documents.

Nájomná zmluva – rental agreement.
It’s necessary to prepare a separate copy or a notarized copy of the agreement for submission to the police.
The document must be completed in Slovak or Czech and certified by a Slovak or Czech notary.

Potvrdenie ubytovacieho zariadenia – confirmation of accommodation.
Handed out when living in dormitories, hostels, hotels, etc.
The document must be completed in Slovak or Czech and certified with the seal of the institution.

Elektronický súhlas o zabezpečení ubytovania – electronic consent of the property owner to provide accommodation.
It is submitted directly by the property owner(s) via the Slovak Ministry of the Interior’s e-services portal.
It is also important to note:
1) Any proof of accommodation must be issued for a period of at least 6 months.
2) In case a foreigner owns and occupies their own property, submission of proof of accommodation is not required.
3) Confirmation of tax payment from the tax office
Potvrdenie o zaplatení dane – confirmation of tax payment.
A document confirming the payment of tax for the previous taxable period in an amount not less than the minimum tax for legal entities (from 340 EUR).
You can order such a document only in electronic form through the taxpayer’s electronic account. The document production period is up to 30 calendar days.
4) Foreigner living finances
Potvrdenie o zostatku na účte – certificate from the bank about the balance on the personal account.
In case registering account in a foreign bank it’s recommended to prepare the document in English since a court translation into Slovak will be needed. The exception are certificates issued in Czech.
In this case, the account balance must be at least 12 subsistence minimums (as of 01.07.2026 approximately 3545 euros).
Account balance must be higher than the specified amount throughout the entire period of consideration of the case by the police.
5) Confirmation of health insurance
In case of having insurance with a Slovak company, certificate (Potvrdenie o poistnom vzťahu) must be obtained from your insurance company office in paper form with the stamp and signature of the employee.
If child is insured by a foreign insurance company, the certificate must be received in paper form with the seal and signature of a company employee. Next, this copy must be translated by a court translator into Slovak. The resulting translation will be certified by the translator’s seal. If the registry doesn’t have a translator from the original language of the document, then you can use the services of a court translator in the Czech Republic. In this case, documents translated into Czech will be accepted by the Foreign Police.
6) Original passport
Cestovný pas – international passport.
The passport must be valid at the time of documents submission.
Police officer will make a copy of the passport and return it to the applicant.
