Applying for a residence permit after study for citizens of non-EU countries.
A student who has successfully graduated from a university and received a diploma of higher education has the right for residence permit renewal after studies for up to 9 months. According to paragraph 34 of section 1 of the Law on Foreigners №404/2011, a residence permit can be issued for the purpose of searching for work or starting a business activity. A student who has graduated from high school in Slovakia has similar rights.
1) Applicant’s form

The form must be completed in Slovak language.
2) Proof of accommodation in Slovakia
Potvrdenie ubytovacieho zariadenia – confirmation of accommodation.
Handed out when living in dormitories, hostels, hotels, etc.
The document must be completed in Slovak or Czech and certified with the seal of the institution.

Čestné vyhlásenie vlastníka nehnuteľnosti – declaration from the property owner.

The document must be completed in Slovak or Czech and certified by a Slovak or Czech notary, or personally signed at the foreign police department when submitting documents.

Nájomná zmluva – rental agreement.
It’s necessary to prepare a separate copy or a notarized copy of the agreement for submission to the police.

Elektronický súhlas o zabezpečení ubytovania – electronic consent of the property owner to provide accommodation.
It is submitted directly by the property owner(s) via the Slovak Ministry of the Interior’s e-services portal.
It is also important to note:
1) Any proof of accommodation must be issued for a period of at least 6 months.
2) Proof of accommodation does not need to be submitted if the applicant is a university student.
3) In case a foreigner owns and occupies their own property, submission of proof of accommodation is not required.
3) Original passport
Cestovný pas – international passport.
The passport must be valid at the time of documents submission.
Police officer will make a copy of the passport and return it to the applicant.
4) Finished study confirmation
A notarized copy of a higher education diploma or a notarized copy of confirmation of high school education completion.
